How this typing test works
The timer starts with your first typed character. Correct characters contribute to net WPM, while mistakes affect accuracy and help identify words that need more practice.
Use the same duration when comparing results. A one-minute test provides a quick baseline, while a longer test gives a steadier view of endurance and concentration.
Understanding your result
WPM uses the common convention of five typed characters per standard word. Accuracy shows the percentage of keystrokes entered correctly during the attempt.
One score is only a snapshot. Look for a trend across several sessions and increase speed only when your technique remains relaxed and controlled.
What is a good typing-test duration?
Use one minute for a quick check and three to five minutes when you want a more stable measure of control and endurance.
Does correcting a mistake affect the result?
Corrections are recorded separately. Fixing an error improves the final text, while the test still remembers that an incorrect key was entered.
Can I use this test on a phone or tablet?
Yes. The test accepts input from mobile keyboards, although desktop and physical-keyboard scores should be compared separately.
