Build confidence with a complete short passage
This beginner typing test ends when you finish the passage. Take time to locate each key and include the spaces, capital letters and punctuation shown. Your first result is a starting point for practice, not a pass or fail grade.
Rest your index fingers on the raised F and J guides. After reaching for another letter, return to your starting position. If you lose your place, pause and read the next word before continuing; repeated guessing makes it harder to learn the movement.
Know when to add speed
Review which letters caused repeated mistakes and practice those slowly. Use Backspace to fix an error, remembering that accuracy still reflects the incorrect attempt even after the text is repaired.
When familiar words feel comfortable, try another passage to check that the skill transfers beyond memorized text. Home-row lessons can help with key locations; a one-minute test is a useful next step once you can keep your eyes on the screen.
Frequently asked questions
How is typing speed calculated?
TypingTestDaily divides correct characters by five, then by elapsed minutes, to calculate net WPM. Accuracy compares correct keystrokes with all attempted keystrokes.
